These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of ZataSync, a product of BlackLeaf Digital (“we”, “us”). By creating an account or using the ZataSync apps or website, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
2. What ZataSync is
ZataSync is peer-to-peer file synchronisation software. It syncs folders directly between devices you control, end-to-end encrypted, over QUIC with pinned-certificate mutual authentication. There is no ZataSync cloud that stores your files; the storage is your own hardware.
3. Accounts
You need an account to use ZataSync. Authentication is provided by ZAuth. You are responsible for keeping your credentials and your paired devices secure, and for all activity under your account. Tell us promptly at hello@zatasync.com if you believe your account has been compromised.
4. Free and Pro tiers
Free: sync on your local network, and via a manual port-forward you configure yourself, on all supported platforms, with no limit on files or folders — free, with no time limit and no trial countdown.
Pro: everything in Free, plus “sync from anywhere” — the coordinated rendezvous and encrypted relay that connect your devices across the internet, through NAT and CGNAT. Pro is US $7 per month.
The Pro subscription buys connectivity, not storage or the right to use the software. Access is enforced server-side.
5. Billing and cancellation
Pro is billed monthly in advance through our payment processor, Stripe. By subscribing you authorise us, via Stripe, to charge your payment method US $7 per month until you cancel. You can cancel at any time; your Pro connectivity continues until the end of the current billing period, after which your account returns to the Free tier. Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable for partial billing periods. We may change pricing on prospective notice.
6. Your content
You retain all rights to the files you sync. You are solely responsible for that content and for having the rights to store and transfer it. Because sync is end-to-end encrypted and peer-to-peer, we do not receive, store, monitor, or have the ability to access the contents of your files — including anything that passes through the Pro relay, which forwards only ciphertext.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to use ZataSync to violate the law or the rights of others, to distribute malware, or to abuse, overload, probe, or attempt to circumvent the rendezvous or relay infrastructure or its server-side access controls. Because we cannot see your file contents, enforcement of this section is necessarily limited to conduct we can observe, such as abuse of the coordination services.
8. Availability
We aim to keep the rendezvous and relay services available, but they are provided on a best-effort basis and may be interrupted for maintenance, updates, or reasons beyond our control. Free-tier syncing over your own local network or your own port-forward does not depend on our servers and continues regardless of the state of our coordination services.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
The service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. You are responsible for maintaining your own backups; synchronisation is not a substitute for a backup.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, BlackLeaf Digital will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us for Pro in the twelve months before the claim.
11. Termination
You may stop using ZataSync and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these Terms or use the service in a way that harms the infrastructure or other users. On termination, your right to use the Pro coordination services ends; software already installed on your devices remains yours to run within these Terms.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the product evolves. When we make material changes we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
